Dr. Joanna Percy grew up in Victoria B.C.. She always wanted to be a vet but was bitten by the travel bug at a young age. She moved to Montreal to study physiology at McGill University, and then worked her way around Australia, New Zealand, the UK, most of Western Europe and Tanzania. She returned to B.C. to study conservation and zoology at UBC, and somehow the urge to become a vet (and travel!) took over again. IN 2010 she graduated with distinction from Massey University in New Zealand. Despite her fondness for kiwis, the skiing simply wasn’t good enough, and she returned to B.C. She worked on the mainland for just under 2 years, and took a brief holiday in March 2012 to join the McKenzie volunteer team in Mexico for the Mexi-Can Vet Project. Now she’s excited to be back in Victoria and working at McKenzie Veterinary Services. Joanna has many interests in the veterinary field, but foremost is diagnostic imaging and pathology. Outside of the clinic Joanna tries to get to the gym or go running as much as possible, but more often than not opts to bake cookies instead.
