Shelagh was born and raised in the Blenkinsop Valley, Saanich, where she lived with her large family on a small farm. It is because of this background she grew up to love working with children and animals.
After finishing high school, Shelagh worked with children for many years. Then in 1993, she decided to volunteer for McKenzie Vet Services. There she worked my way up to tech assistant then in 2005 started the TRU Animal Health Distant Education program. She graduated in 2007 and has been working as a tech ever since.
Away from work, she spends her time with her husband Mike, cats (Spitfire, Jordie, Carter, and Kubbie Bear) and dog (Bella Regina). She enjoys camping, hiking and kayaking. She also has a love of gardening and genealogy.
