Laura grew up in Calgary, AB. She always wanted to be a vet, and some of her fondest childhood memories are playing with all the critters at her aunt’s horse farm. Laura completed her veterinary degree in 2010 at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon and spent her first four years in practice up-island in Courtenay, BC. She returned home to work in Alberta for six years, but the west coast has lured her back. Laura has many interests in the veterinary field, but foremost are dermatology, ophthalmology, and soft tissue surgery.
Outside of work, Laura is passionate about travel and one her life goals is to visit 100 countries. The travel bug bit her as a teenager during a school trip to Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji. Some of her best travel experiences are eating her way around Italy, sleeping in a Buddhist temple in Japan, and standing between tectonic plates in Iceland. Back at home, Laura is a bookworm and loves to read and watch movies. She enjoys going for walks with her husband Ken and dog Jazz, bike rides, or staying in to watch hockey.
