Dr Jaclyn Hockley

Jaclyn grew up on an acreage in Calgary, Alberta with many different animals including cats, dogs, and horses. She dreamt of becoming a veterinarian from a very young age and surrounded herself with all things animal-related. She graduated from the University of Calgary where she received her BSc in Biological Sciences in 2010 (with distinction). After spending a year working at a veterinary clinic in Calgary to gain some practical experience, she was accepted into the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. While there, she received the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association Leadership Award and graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Jaclyn began practicing in Saskatoon at a local veterinary clinic for two years before moving to Victoria. She joined the McKenzie Veterinary Services team in December 2017. Jaclyn’s professional interests include feline medicine, dentistry, and ophthalmology.

She lives in downtown Victoria with her boyfriend, two cats and a cockatiel. In her spare time, Jaclyn enjoys keeping active. Her interests include CrossFit, archery, Ultimate Frisbee, kayaking, and various other outdoor activities. Some of her favourite pet-related activities include going for walks with her cat, Oliver, who also loves the outdoors, and keeping her other ‘attention obsessed’ cat, Taj, out of trouble.
