Dr. Diane Cruickshank is originally from the prairies and will always be a prairie girl at heart. She was raised in Edmonton Alberta, where she grew up riding bikes, skating, playing in the streets and camping. Her first career included a total of 13 years with Royal Bank of Canada where she enjoyed meeting her client’s financial needs. At 27 years old, she realized that the finance industry was not where her passions lie. She went back to school and completed her pre-veterinary courses through Grant McEwan College and the University of Alberta. She graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Western College of Veterinary medicine at University of Saskatchewan in May of 2003. Upon graduating, she moved here to Victoria, BC to start practicing with Dr. Susan Nightingale at North Douglas Veterinary Clinic. In 2008, North Douglas Veterinary Clinic was sold and amalgamated in with McKenzie Veterinary Services. She is unique in the veterinary industry in that she still works in the same clinic she started her career in.
She loves her work and has truly found her passion in the many facets of veterinary medicine. Her interests include small animal medicine, dentistry, and chronic pain management. Her favourite part, however, is the relationships she forges with the clients and patients. She strives to balance her life between her love for veterinary medicine and her two beautiful daughters. On her time off, she enjoys spending quality time with her girls, riding her motorcycle, travelling and enjoying her morning coffee on the dock at Shawnigan Lake.
